MY RATING: 8/10
IN A NUTSHELL: Delightful cross between a Chardonnay and a Sauvignon Blanc
ORIGIN: South Africa (Western Cape, Coastal Region, Swartland)
VARIETALS: Chenin Blanc
SAQ PRICE: $17.80
I really like this wine. It was quite a fortuitous find: I went into the SAQ looking for a white wine, the sales clerk asked me what I wanted, I said I couldn’t decide between a Chardonnay and a Sauvignon Blanc, and VOILÀ! It’s great value for money, with a nice yellow colour and lots of buttery and pineapple-y flavours. It comes on like an oaky Chardonnay but finishes like a Sauvignon Blanc. It doesn’t have the smoothest finish, but, overall, is fruity and refreshing. It’s a decent summer quaffing wine.
