Château de Nages Vieilles Vignes

MY RATING: 7/10

IN A NUTSHELL:  OK, but a fairly bitter GSM blend

ORIGIN: France (Vallée du Rhone, Costières de Nimes)

VARIETALS: Grenache (72%), Syrah (24%), Mourvèdre (4%)

SAQ PRICE: $19.95

This wine definitely benefits from breathing a bit. When first opened, it had a funky Oka cheese smell to it (which this taster loved), but little else to offer. The next night, it had a pleasant strawberry and cherry taste, with an interesting ashiness. Unfortunately, it could not shake a very bitter aftertaste. Not my favourite, but not bad.
